Whenever I see a full milk bottle left on the side/out of the fridge, I go straight to Kill Bill Red Rage. Nothing in between.

Does anyone else share my hatred of milk being left out?! If not what really gets your back up? The more irrational the better.

My biggest pet peeve is monotony, my brain cant handle the same thing over and over, Chinese water torture would break me in less than an hour i think. I sit there not realizing its getting me angry then suddenly il flip.

Haha I read that first as monogomy! Im very much of the opinion that if you dont have a peeve you're not a very interesting person.

I agree with the water torture part. I'd crack before they even filled it up!

I volunteer at the library these days. Nothing gets me more than people generally being disruptive like looking at porn on the computers, talking loudly, or my personal favorite; PUTTING THINGS WHERE THEY DO NOT BELONG. But that's just me. I like to thing everything has a place and purpose, if you take them out it just causes mass mayhem. If you take something out of the fridge you can put it back. Gah, and when people open two or more bottles of the same milk or juice at the same time. Oh I also love it when when people ask questions that have already been asked NUMEROUS TIMES. TYPING ALL IN CAPS MAKES ME ANNOYED TOO. Bad smelling people also bother me. Oh and people that walk really really slow in front of you. And when people return my stuff in not the exact same condition I lent it to them. Even better is when they don't return my stuff. I'd go on and on but it'd make me look too much like a very irritable person.

I work at a little shop called The Reject Shop. It's a low-brow discount variety store. When I'm on a register, I despise it when customers come to a register and dump their stuff so you can't tell who is buying what! So it's like GemLil complaining about people not putting barriers behind their shopping. Except at this shop...they don't even have barriers. I'm such a confused checkout lad sometimes...

Haha Chibi, that is a 10/10 rant; with which I entirely agree.

I could never find anything thing in my uni library, whenever I saw some kid putting 202.678 in with the 103.5's, it took everything within my not to throw a book at their head! Its the Dewey decimal system, it relies on common courtesy. You wanna get some barriers in on that mayhem Caboose.

My biggest pet peeve lately may seem entirely silly to others but it's serious business to me:

Chips not having enough seasoning on them. It kills me. What happened to the days of Cooler Ranch Doritos? Now they're simply Cool Ranch, with less seasoning and flavour. I'm a total carb junkie, so chips are a staple of my "diet". I'm tired of plain, boring chips!

Not to mention, the variety of chips these days is pathetic. Used to be you could stoll down the chip aisle at the grocery store and pick up several bags that looked yummy. Now there's not much to choose from unless you like plain crap.

And what's with the companies, especially Doritos, that come out with a new concept chip, it sells well, it's a great tasting chip, and POOF! it's gone? No longer available anywhere. What the hell?! Happened with my Salsa Doritos and those XD-whatever cheeseburger Doritos that I could eat a bag of a day. It's highly upsetting.

And when I do get a bag of chips, only half the damn bag is full. Total gip! Am I alone in my chip frustration here, or are there others who echo my sentiments?

How's that for irrational, GemLil? ;) Oh, and by the way, one would conclude from this rant that I'm a fat slob that sits on the couch all day and eats junk food--quite the contrary. I'm a healthy chip conossoir who's irritated by the mainstream chip industry. :P

350125g0, I hear you loud and clear! My favorite Dorito was Guacamole. It had all the seasoning I could ever ask for, so much that it would cake up my finger tips (which of course I would save for last, after I finished the bag!). Guac Doritos and a Diet Coke... But no, they giveth and they taketh away. At least I still have Diet Coke.

A short divulgence of painful things:

Dog-eared pages in books. People putting recyclable glass/etc into the bin which is NEXT to a recycling box. People standing in the doorways of, or leaning against the only doors, of a building which people need to get in/out of. People breaking your things and then not telling you and sometimes trying to hide it. People making so much noise in the next room at 3am you can't sleep... on the night before a 9.30am exam. Early exams on a weekend. Unorganised lecturers... The list goes on.

I just came out of university halls living with eleven other people... think you know what some of these refer to? :P

I have two that are guaranteed to push buttons I otherwise try very hard to not let be pushed (Life's too short to be grouchy over petty stuff *all* the time!).

#1: People who don't respect personal space make me slightly nuts. My last trip to the grocery store was enhanced by a women in line behind me who crowded up so close to me that every time she leaned over her cart to put something on the belt, she rammed her cart into the backs of my legs. She looked at me like I was doing something wrong when I asked her to back up two steps.

#2: The fact that I have not enjoyed a movie I've seen in a theater in at least 5 years. It's not that I choose bad movies; it's that something about sitting in the dark brings out the social misfit in people. They bring screaming babies. They discourse loudly about the upcoming plot points because they've seen it before or read spoilers. They put their feet on the backs of occupied seats and PUSH. And most charming of all, they answer their phones mid-movie, and they all have this discussion:

HEY! I'M WATCHING A MOVIE!
IT'S PRETTY GOOD. *insert loud recap of plot thus far*
NO, I CAN'T TALK RIGHT NOW, I'M WATCHING THE MOVIE!
Lather, rinse, repeat.

I used to love going to movies, but I've almost entirely stopped. I'd rather wait for the DVD. I look at the additional cost as a very reasonable peace-and-quiet fee.

I'm quite a clean person, I don't like it when people leave things strewn across a floor, whether it be at home or even at work where it's not even my floor to care about. My ultimate hate is when someone (pointing all fingers at my girlfriend) touches my monitor. That's a punchable offence!

Fingerprints in general wind me up, how can people not realise they have greasy hands! Just don't touch glass, posters, MONITORS, or any plastic surface if you've got greasy fingers. Jeez.

People who smoke. Even when they're smoking on the street, we all share the same pavement, so I'm bound to breathe something in. I think smokers should be forced onto the central reservations of roads to smoke if they want to do it outside. It's horrific that in the 21st century people are breathing known carcinogens in my face as I attempt to walk down the street!

Now, is it smokers in general? Or those who tend to blow smoke in your face?

On the subject of smoking, a lot of the larger towns and cities in my state are passing smoking bans on businesses, including bars and clubs. You also can't smoke within a certain amount of feet in front of businesses. Being a smoker myself, and a heavy smoker at that, I think it's frickin' retarded (for lack of better words). I can't have a cigarette at my favourite pizza place after I've finished my meal, and I can't have a cigarette with my beer at the bar. A lot of businesses are losing money because a lot of smokers are ticked. I think it should be up to the business owner whether or not smoking should be allowed in and around their establishment--not lawmakers and local government.

What happened to the days of smoking in grocery stores and malls?! Is smoking going to be banned everywhere, including your place of residence? I can't stand this kick every non-smoker's on in saying that smoking ought to be banned outright. There are far worse things in the air we're breathing, you know.

Smoking in restaurants is utterly inexcusable in my opinion. The problem with smoking is that it isn't a selfless act and everyone around you is going to breathe in an acrid and uncomfortable odour. Restaurants that had non-smoking and smoking sections seemed to think that there was some sort of invisible barrier that prevented the diffusion of smoke from one side of the other. Nothing ruins a good meal like a lungful of smoke that has already been inside someone else's body. I happen to think that the ban on smoking in public places is the best law our current government has passed in it's 11 year tenure.

I hope that smoking is eventually banned everywhere except a person's home. I'm not sure how much people would like me walking around spraying deodorant in the air, into people's faces and the like, but it's pretty much the same thing only it smells better and doesn't ruin your clothes.

"oh try this! its great!"

"no thanks, i dont like calamari"

"ever had it?"

"nope"

"so how the hell can you know if you like it or not?"

"coz i never had it... its too.. i dunno, i just dont like trying new things"

about smoking, i live in canada, where ban of smoking in restaurants has been in place for a while, and even bars/nightclubs/ and even patios. and recently they passed no smoking in your own car if you have any children under 16 in same car. VERY much appreciated law. Everyone panicked "oh no, no one will go to bars anymore!"

whatever... bars are all packed, only now your eyes dont tear up from the fuckin' smoke that used to be present in all of them. and all smokers converge in designated area either in front or out back of bar. YOU have the addiction, so YOU deal with inconvenience of stepping out of bar or restaurant if you want to light up. Dont piss off everyone else with your problem of tobacco addiction.

and no, restaurants are NOT losing money. they just replaced the smoking crowds with the non-smoking crowds - people that used to want to go to restaurants or bars and never did coz of the smoke.

You know, I have a lot of friends who are non-smokers and they too appreciate the smoking ban placed on businesses. It does seem like a lot of the non-smokers tend to come out more often now and frequent bars and clubs they once thought were icky due to cigarette smoke. So I understand that side of the argument, I really do.

And I suppose it depends on where you live as far as places losing money. My hometown passed their non-smoking law about two years ago. Apparently a lot of the bars have been losing business and local government is now discussing an exception for places that serve alcohol. Maybe your city is doing well with the ban. That one isn't.

Smokers are ostracized. I'm not being a drama queen with that statement, it's just the simple truth. The unhealthy decisions I choose are mine alone, I'm aware of that. I do hate all the rules/laws in place for smokers but know that I'll just have to deal with them. :/

In my part of world, they did start smoking bans on city-by-city basis, and businesses/bars WERE hurting. If there is no smoking at city #1, but smoking is allowed at city #2 just 15 minutes drive, naturally the patrons for the most part drove to the cities without smoking bans. But the government fairly quickly realized this and made is a region-wide ban that overruled each city's own laws in regards to smoking.

New pet peeve - complete strangers that ask to borrow your car. Shit, i even hesitate lending it out to family and close friends (but i do lend it out if they really need it) but why do complete strangers, basically a friend of a friend, have nerve to ask to borrow my car? Happened twice this week so far.

Ahh, Pet Peeves. How I do love thee.

1) Everything in my room has to be in EXACTLY the same place. NOTHING can be out of place; not one stuffed animal, not one book, not one art supply can be in dissaray. Papers and drawings are all kept in seperate folders.
the thing is, when its not in my room, I could care less. The stuffed animals cannot be in a different order either. nothing can be. If you switch up the order it irks me. ALOT.
It's just weird....

2) when I'm drawing, I have to draw the head. I can't even draw the outline of the body until i'm finished detailing evry.single.little.detail on the figures face, features, and hair. also quite irksome.

I'll write more when I think of them

You are ostracized because everyone who doesn't smoke hates smokers! Its a disgraceful habit. The reason it is disgraceful is that it is NOT "your unhealthy decision for you to make alone" it effects everyone who has to smell you or be near you and its disgusting to put up with. If someone has BO or went around breathing their horrible rancid breath in your face all day you wouldn't like being with them. Smoke smells just as bad!
